Questionnaire results

From looking at the results from my questionnaire, 65% of people that answered said that they enjoy the horror films that have possessed people in it. This would be useful to me because this tells me what the audience wants to see and so I could adapt my idea to fit the needs of the target audience. The other 35% said that they would like to see a killer involved. Therefore to fit my idea i could have a possessed girl that ends up trying to kill everyone. This means I will everyone happy on the questionnaire and will draw them as well as possessed lovers into my film.

The setting was set that 50% of the people that answered the questionnaire said that they wanted to see the film in a woods or forests because it could be free and the space would not have been limited to what was available this is the setting of my film so such a large percentage liking this means I have a wide audience just for the setting of my film.  35% of the people said it should be in a hospital. This would not be able to have been done to a great level because the hospital is always full of people and this is not what i would have wanted to do. I would also not have been able to stay in the hospital overnight as there is a limited time that i would have been able to access the hospital, therefore, I would also not have access to the equipment that I would want to if it was to be in a hospital. So this means some people wouldn't have been happy with the setting of my film.

Many people said that they would like to see teenagers given the most prevalence in the film because it would be aimed at a teenage and older audience and so people may find it easier to associate the film to their personal lives in their own way. Whereas, if it was middle aged people to be given prevalence throughout the film, the younger target audience would find it harder to relate to them in any way.

Mostly all of the people that answered my questionnaire said that the characters should be wearing casual clothes as if they were just meting up with their friends as they would not know what is going to happen in the film. This would make the target audience feel that it is real life and they would be able to get into the mood that the characters are in when they are in the film and it is on a particular scene.
The shots that I have been suggested to use are mainly close-ups and wide shot. Close-ups to show the expressions on the characters faces when something dramatic happens. Wide shots are suggested to use when you want to show the character the whole setting all in one shot.

PG

PG stands for Parental Guidance. This means a film is suitable for general viewing, but some scenes may be unsuitable for young children. A PG film should not unsettle a child aged around eight or older. Parents should consider whether the content may upset younger, or more sensitive, children.

No. Some films are given a PG certificate but have not been made with a young audience in mind. A recent example of a film mostly enjoyed by grown ups but passed PG would be Saving Mr. Banks. However, the certificate means that any issues in the work are appropriate for the majority of this age group and nothing should upset a child of eight or over.

Sound:
Sound is very important within a dance film .To help set the tone mood and atmosphere. Non-diegetic music is used to reflect the narrative events such as dance battles. Diegetic sound is used in the dialogue between the characters as it reveals there place within the film this shows that the genre is Dance as you know who is the dance rivals right from the start.

Camera Angles:
A close-up shot is used to show the character Honey Daniels. An establishing shot is used of the setting that is the night club; this establishes where the narrative is going to take place.A two shot is used of the characters Honey and her friend to show their relationship of friendship and trust. A tracking shot follows the action when Honey Daniels takes to the dance for and starts to show the night club her dance moves, to reveal to the audience that she will be the main character within this film, this engages them because they want to see what Honey Daniels does outside of partying with her friends.

Props/ costumes:

The audience can see that the character is wearing sporty clothing that is usually seen on dancers. this shows that she will be dancing in this film. This is typical of the genre because all dancers are in films seen to be wearing these clothes as they seem to brake in to dance at any situation that they can.

Clichés:
Noticeable clichés are used in the opening scene such as a Attractive female taking the lead and having her dance rival to be very fake and have a lot of male attention. This engages the audience as they recognise these features and can predict what is going to happen in the narrative.

Sound:
Sound is very important within an Action film to help set the tone mood and atmosphere. Non-diegetic music is used to reflect the narrative events such as the tension that is building within the football game. Diegetic sound is used in the dialogue between the characters.it reveals that there is tension between the two quarterbacks on each team and that there is clear upset and drama in the rest of the film, this shows that the genre is Action as it build tension and heated arguments between the two men.

Camera Angles:

A close-up shot is used to show the character Jake Tyler to show the humor he gains when stopping the opposition scoring and the reaction of his opponent when he does this. An establishing shot is used of the setting that is the football pitch. This establishes where the narrative is going to take place. A two shot is used of the characters Jake and his opponent to show their relationship which is hate for one and other. A tracking shot follows the action of Jake Tyler to reveal to the audience that the drama that will take place will always involve him .This engages them because they can see that this is going to be the main character as he will be Jake and that he will be taking on many fights after the one in the opening scene.

Characters:

The main characters are introduced in the opening scene when Jake and the boy he has been arguing start to fight, the audience recognizes that they are the main characters through the use of the dialogue/camera shots/events that they are involved in. Although in the opening two minutes of the film there is only one clear main character and that is Jake this is because he is given prevalence in the opening scene.

Narrative Events: The opening scene features certain narrative events such as two collage teams playing a football game following by a fight scene that starts of with two players but ends up with the whole team fighting. These conform to the genre as other openings such as ‘Fighting’ feature similar events.

Props/ costumes:
The audience can see that the character is wearing football kit this shows that the boys are playing football; this is typical of the genre because most fighting films consist of popular jockeys that play American football. Props are featured such as a football and football equipment this is typical of the genre as it shows that they are sporty and popular.

Clichés:

Noticeable clichés are used in the opening scene such as attractive and muscular men that are sporty and strong. This engages the audience as they recognise these features and can predict what is going to happen in the narrative.

Research and Planning Targets

Your film, which needs to have been filmed by the end of term, needs to be planned thoroughly and every element needs to be written about and evidence online. Your own research into film openings could be a lot more thorough and you need to do some more analysis using key terminology to explore mise en scene, camera, sound, editing and conventions of genre.
